Million Dollar Baby (2004)

Director Clint Eastwood's masterpiece.  Well, that's just my opinion.  As both an actor and a director, he's never been in better form.  Add to this Hillary Swank's utterly convincing turn as a white-trash wannabe boxer learning the ropes and opening the heart of a crusty boarderline burn-out trainer, and you have a mixture that simply screams "instant classic".  This film is about boxing the way "Field of Dreams" is about baseball.  That said, it contains some brutal, beautifully choreographed and convincing boxing scenes.  My my my. Who would have thought that 76-year old director-actor-composer Eastwood could pull such a rabbit out of his hat.  This is, by any measure, a don't-miss film, and a most enthusiastic "A+"
