You said in the blog that you usually write a script first and then the novel. Does that make the work a little easier to visualize? I've been searching for a solid method to emulate and this one sounds like the best yet. If I can see what people are saying and what is going on around them, doing the settings later would be a hell of a lot easier.

Yes.  Final Draft has an "index card" based outlining system that is also perfect for writers.  I start with FD, then import to Word and finish there!
