Goals X Faith X Action X Attitude = Results

There is no absolute path to success in life--there are simply too many variables. However, there are ways to pretty much guarantee failure.

If you don't know what you want (goals)

If you don't believe your efforts will lead to pleasure and results (Faith)

If you don't work your #$%% off every day (constant action)

If you don't project positivity to the world to attract allies (Gratitude)

You are poisoning your chances. Strangling your dreams. I'm quite certain you have stories of woe, and pain, and betrayal, and lost opportunity. The reason I tell you of my own mother's attempts to stop me from being a writer, of teachers profiling me into the "slow" group, of pervasive social pressures to stop my efforts, of stomach-twisting fear connected to my martial arts training, of social rejection and being told straight out by school counselors, friends, associates and even strangers that my dreams were impossible...

Is to let you know you are not alone. An insignificant proportion of the successful people I know had any significant advantages over the average. And the average person is living a life of quiet desperation. What does it take to keep going regardless? Every "success system" has a different theory. But what you will consistently find listed are:

Goals, Faith, Action, and Attitude.

They have served me well, and serve me still. And if you don't have all four in place, you need look no further to explain any lack of success. HANDLE THESE FIRST!

  2. Steve. Would you address the subject of spiritual predators sometime soon. I know you have done this in "The Kundalini Equation," but I think this merits some further comment.

  3. Glenn--an excellent thought. In short: you need no teacher. Dig deeply into the questions "what is true?" and "who am I?" until you can go no further, and have reached the simplest possible answer. It will take years, but the work is fantastically valuable. Anyone who says they can get you there, or do the work for you, is a predator.

Steve, I thank you for your sharing, I am in a place that your words are like water to a thirsty person, so again thank you.
I am seeking guidance on achieving x attitude, I have all 3: goals, faith and action, however when I am on the path and seeking direction I get nervous and this stunts my outcome.
After the experience, I looked in the mirror and did not understand my nervousness. I was well prepared, I was learned in the position and could perform required tasks.
Do you have any suggestions to assist in future ability in reaching a desired goal of x attitude.

  5. Our moods are controlled by what we focus upon. In the darkest night, there is a spot of light, if we will but direct our attention there. If you know that you need to increase your sense of gratitude in order to improve your life, sit quietly and concentrate upon your blessings. Some may be as "small" as having clear sight or a good bowel movement. Seriously--try being deaf or constipated for a week, and you'll grasp how important that is. Once you begin the process of finding things to be grateful for, it becomes addictive. Commit to filling your life with joy, one small observation at a time. It takes time to turn the Titanic around, so this will not happen in a day or a week or a month. But slowly, you'll enter the light.

    Namaste,
    Steve

Woah! I'm really enjoying the template/theme of this blog. It's simple, yet
effective. A lot of times it's hard to get that "perfect balance" between user friendliness and visual appearance. I must say you've done a
very good job with this. Also, the blog loads super quick

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter
and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
