On his fair worth and single chivalry..." On this MLK day let us remember a man who was an exemplar of what we admire as American, as human, as spiritual: the willingness to die to achieve an aim. A belief that better days are ahead of us than behind us. A belief that within the hearts of human beings is a bottomless fountain of love and compassion, if only fear can be abated. That men and women of good heart can all face the common dream of a world that will nurture their children according to the worth of their souls, rather than the social constructions that separate us. Just a man, who gave the last measure for his country, his people, his God. May we find such courage, compassion and clarity for our own struggles. Every one of us. ##
