Writing in paradise...with some sadness. I heard that August Wilson, playwrite supreme, is diagnosed with liver cancer and has only months to live. Damn. And another friend just died in a plane crash. Ouch. It made me want to tell the group of writers I'm playing with that they must approach every day's work as if it is the last days. What is happening in New Orleans just reinforces this. Life is so short, and love, and righteous work, and integrity are some of the things that make it worth while. Work hard every day, my friends, and let every day move you into greater and greater integrity with your inner self. Let your work express your true voice. Don't slip into the illusion that you have forever to get your life in order...you don't. There is no pain like that of a wasted life. I wish each of you health and safety, and the quality of life that makes each day a victory in and of itself.
